A message from the Prescription order line:

For some years NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has worked with Porter Brook Medical Centre to provide a Prescription Order Line telephone service for ordering repeat medication.  This service was set up as a test service and has only been available to a few volunteer Sheffield general practices and their patients, including Porter Brook Medical Centre.  The CCG has formally looked for an NHS provider to extend the Prescription Order Line to all general practices in the city but unfortunately has been unable to find one that meets the right criteria.

Therefore, as we are unable to provide equal access to this service for all Sheffield patients, the CCG has taken the difficult decision to stop providing the Prescription Order Line to Porter Brook Medical Centre patients from 30 September 2021.

We understand that this will mean a change to how you can order your repeat medication and we and the CCG would like to know how this will affect you and what support you may need to order your medicines in the future.

Please tell us about how this will impact you by completing this short survey

Paper copies are available of the survey on request.

Repeat Prescriptions

You can order repeat prescriptions in the following ways:

  • Online - to order a prescription online click on the link at the top of this page. You will need to register for this service. All information is encrypted to ensure a secure service. This service is available at both sites.
  • Issuing of repeat prescriptions by the surgery team or through your pharmacy may require the Sheffield NHS Prescription Order Line staff to look at your medication record.
  • At the reception desk - when ordering a prescription at the reception desk at either site, wherever possible please fill in a prescription order form (available at the desk).
  • By post - you can write to us enclosing a stamped addressed envelope, giving details of which items you need. Please allow up to five days for prescriptions to arrive by post.

Please allow 48 hours before collecting prescriptions.

Electronic Prescription Service

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is now available at this practice.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

If you fail to attend for a medication review, this could result in your next prescription being given at a reduced quantity.
